A note from the founder

Started on a couch, still run like one.

I launched Savage Loot Dominion in 2016 after getting tired of reviews that scored a game before the credits even rolled. Every piece we publish comes from finishing the thing — or clocking at least forty honest hours into it — before a single word gets written.

We're a small crew of four working out of a walk-up on Ossington. We buy our own copies, refuse review embargoes that come with strings, and mark every gifted key clearly. If a game is mediocre, we'll say so, and tell you exactly which forty dollars are better spent elsewhere.

What we publish

Coverage, not clickbait

In-depth review coverage

The Full Playthrough Review

Our flagship format. We finish the campaign, then write 2,500 honest words with a clear verdict and a "worth $79.99 CAD?" call. New reviews land every Tuesday and Friday.

Patch Autopsy

Line-by-line breakdowns of major updates — what actually changed and who it helps.

Indie Dig

Monthly roundup of the best games you missed, pulled from 200+ demos.

Retro gaming coverage

Retro Corner

Revisiting the classics on original hardware, every other Sunday.

Community and newsletter

The Weekly Loot Drop

A free Friday newsletter: three reviews, one deal alert, and a hidden gem — no algorithm, no ads.

Good to know

Frequently asked

How do you score games?+

We use a simple 10-point scale, but the number always follows the words. Every score is anchored to a "would we tell a friend to buy this at full price?" test. We never adjust a score for review-key access or publisher relationships.

Do you accept paid reviews or sponsorships?+

Never for reviews. Editorial coverage is always independent and can't be bought. We occasionally run clearly labelled newsletter sponsorships, but those never touch a review's content or score. Any gifted review key is disclosed at the top of the article.

Can I pitch a guest article?+

Absolutely. We pay $150 CAD per accepted feature and love voices outside the usual circles. Send a two-paragraph pitch through the contact form below. We read every submission and reply within about a week, even if it's a pass.

How often do you publish?+

Full reviews go up Tuesdays and Fridays, the Indie Dig on the first of each month, and Retro Corner every other Sunday. The Weekly Loot Drop newsletter arrives every Friday at 9am ET. We'd rather post less than pad the feed.

Is the newsletter really free?+

Yes, completely free with no paywall tier. We keep the lights on through the occasional labelled sponsor slot and reader tips. Unsubscribe any time in one click — we won't guilt-trip you with a five-step exit survey.
